METRO2C Alliance And Volta Data Centres Add Low Latency Connectivity To Key Trading Venues - Unique Low Latency Environment Created For Trading Firms In Ireland And The UK

Sea Fibre Networks (SFN), owner and operator of Europe’s most advanced sub-sea telecoms network, CeltixConnect, today announced Volta Data Centres as a member of the METRO2C Alliance. The addition of Volta, with its City of London data centre, to the Alliance creates a unique low latency eco-system between Dublin’s International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) and London’s financial services trading community. The METRO2C Alliance enables latency sensitive trading participants, including exchanges, brokers and high-frequency traders, to transmit millions of orders at lightning speed from the IFSC, Dublin directly to Volta’s Great Sutton Street Data Centre via the CeltixConnect submarine network.

Today I am pleased to release our report, The Australian hedge funds sector and systemic risk, setting out the findings of our 2012 survey into the systemic risk posed by local hedge funds. This is our second such survey: the first was in 2010. -
Moscow Exchange: Equities Trading Volumes Strong For First Week Of T+2

Moscow Exchange announces it has completed a smooth transition from TO to T+2, as almost all market participants were well prepared for the move to the new settlement regime. Equity trading volumes for the first week of September were strong. The average daily turnover in shares was RUB 31 bln during the week, 35% higher than the RUB 23 bln average seen so far this year. The number of transactions was around 980,000 on Friday totaling RUB 56 bln, a 70% increase over the average daily turnover and number of transactions this year. 229 participants traded as of Friday, versus 175 on 2 September, the first day of complete migration from T0 to T+2 settlement for equities.

ASIC; Hedge Funds - No Systemic Risk To Financial System

Australian hedge funds do not currently pose a systemic risk to the Australian financial system, an ASIC report released today has found.

CFTC Releases Rule Enforcement Review Of ELX Futures, L.P.

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (Commission) has notified ELX Futures, L.P. (ELX or Exchange) of the results of a rule enforcement review completed by the Commission’s Division of Market Oversight (Division). The review covered the target period from June 1, 2011 to May 31, 2012. The Division assessed the Exchange’s compliance with Core Principles 4 and 5, pre- and post-Dodd–Frank Act, relating to the Exchange’s market surveillance program. ELX contracted with the National Futures Association (NFA) to perform certain regulatory services on behalf of the Exchange, including market surveillance. Therefore, the review also examined NFA’s performance of its market surveillance responsibilities.

JPMorgan Chase To Elect Linda Bammann And Michael Neal To Its Board Of Directors - Company Also Announces Enhancements To Its Corporate Governance Principles And Establishes The Role Of Lead Independent Director

JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE: JPM) announced today that its Board of Directors intends to elect Linda B. Bammann and Michael A. Neal as directors of the company. Ms. Bammann is expected to be elected on September 16, while Mr. Neal is expected to join the Board in January 2014, after he retires from his current position.

CFTC Releases Rule Enforcement Review Of The Minneapolis Grain Exchange, Inc.

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (Commission) has notified the Minneapolis Grain Exchange, Inc. (MGEX) of the results of a rule enforcement review completed by the Commission’s Division of Market Oversight (Division). The review covered the target period from June 1, 2011 to May 31, 2012. The Division assessed MGEX’s compliance with pre-Dodd-Frank Act Core Principles 10 and 17 and post-Dodd-Frank Act Core Principles 10 and 18 (audit trail program); pre- and post-Dodd-Frank Act Core Principles 2 and 12 (trade practice surveillance program); pre-Dodd-Frank Act Core Principle 2 and post-Dodd-Frank Act Core Principle 13 (disciplinary program); and pre-Dodd-Frank Act Core Principle 13 and post-Dodd-Frank Act Core Principle 14 (dispute resolution program).

CFTC Releases Rule Enforcement Review Of The CBOE Futures Exchange

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (Commission) today notified CBOE Futures Exchange (CFE) of the results of a rule enforcement review completed by the Commission’s Division of Market Oversight (Division). The review covered the target periods from November 1, 2009 to November 1, 2010 (first target period) and November 1, 2010 to August 1, 2012 (second target period). The Division evaluated the Exchange’s compliance with Core Principles 10 (Trade Information) and 17 (Recordkeeping), which relate to an exchange’s audit trail program for the recording and safe storage of trade information in a manner which enables prevention of customer and market abuses and enforcement of exchange rules.
