PEGAS: New Volume Record In October - Over 65 TWh Traded – New Records On Spot Market

PEGAS, the natural gas platform jointly established by the European Energy Exchange (EEX) and Powernext, announced that a total volume of65.4 TWh was traded in October 2014. Compared to the previous year, the volume almost tripled (October 2013: 22.5 TWh) and represents the highest monthly volume ever traded on the PEGAS markets. The previous record was set in September 2014 with 54.8 TWh.

When the European Central Bank’s pan-European settlement platform TARGET2-Securities (T2S) goes live in waves from 2015 to 2017, the Liquidity Alliance members will benefit from access to the future pan-European liquidity pool T2S will create. Streamlined settlement will integrate respective assets for smooth collateral management activities. Iberclear in Spain and Clearstream’s central securities depository (CSD) in Germany, Clearstream Banking AG, will act as the gateway into T2S for the entire Liquidity Alliance.

- The average daily turnover for the first ten months of 2014 was $65,797 million, an increase of 4 per cent when compared with $63,207 million for the same period last year.
- There were 99* newly listed companies for the first ten months of 2014, an increase of 57 per cent when compared with the 63* for the same period last year.
- Funds raised through IPOs for the first ten months of 2014 was $138,555 million, an increase of 97 per cent when compared with $70,245 million for the same period last year.
- Total funds raised (including from IPOs) for the first ten months of the year was $695,094 million, an increase of 212 per cent when compared with $223,144 million for the same period last year.

- The Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) continued its endeavors to bring the local market to standards well-recognized by the investor community, both local and international. Significant infrastructure projects, such as improvements to the market making program, the separation of the trading system from post-trading, the new trade settlement period (T+2), to name only a few, reached their final stage and were implemented at the beginning of October. These projects, along with the reduction of trading fees, have become new milestones in BVB’s road to modernity and the medium-size CEE exchanges category.
