Bank Of England - Financial Stability Paper 33: A European Capital Markets Union: Implications For Growth And stability – Niki Anderson, Martin Brooke, Michael Hume And Miriam Kürtösiová
Capital Markets Union (CMU) is an overarching term used to describe a number of possible measures aimed at diversifying and integrating European capital markets to support economic growth and stability. This paper examines the mechanisms through which CMU could help to achieve these objectives, namely better matching of savers and borrowers and improved private-sector risk sharing, and identifies potential reform areas. In doing so, it gives consideration to the implications of greater financial diversification and integration for financial stability. The paper concludes that CMU proposals will need to be targeted at both savers and borrowers and that economic and financial stability will be better served if funds are directed towards investments less prone to capital flight during stress, including equities.

The Treasury Committee held an evidence session with Lord Grabiner QC on his independent report, requested by the Bank of England to investigating whether, between 2005 and 2013, any Bank of England official was involved in, or aware of, conduct issues in the Foreign Exchange Market.

EEX: First Exchange Trade In Spanish Power Futures – New Day And Weekend Contracts For France, Italy And Spain Successfully Launched
The European Energy Exchange has recorded the first exchange trading transactions in Spanish Power Futures. The trades were concluded in the new short-term maturities which have been available at EEX since the beginning of this week. On Monday, EEX expanded its existing offering in the Power Derivatives Market with the launch of day and weekend futures for France, Italy and Spain.

New rules published by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) today will help to protect consumers wanting to access their pension savings from 6 April 2015 by requiring firms involved in the sale of retirement income products to give additional warnings tailored to them.
