EEX Presents Fifth Annual Excellence Award In Brussels - Maroš Šefčovič And Jesse Stone Attend As Guest Speakers

The European Energy Exchange (EEX) presented the EEX Excellence Award for outstanding academic theses for the fifth time last night. The event at which the exchange welcomed Maroš Šefčovič, the Vice-President of the European Commission, as a guest speaker took place during the EEX autumn reception at the Bozar Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels.

This questionnaire has given rise to a study entitled “Investor Perceptions about Smart Beta ETFs”.

UK's Financial Conduct Authority: Former Investment Portfolio Manager Charged With Insider Dealing

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has instituted criminal proceedings against Mark Alexander Lyttleton (date of birth 9 June 1971), a former Investment Portfolio Manager at Blackrock Investment Management (UK) Ltd. Mr Lyttleton is charged with three counts of insider dealing, contrary to Section 52(1) of the Criminal Justice Act 1993.

HKSCC Appoints ICBC (Asia) As Settlement Bank

Hong Kong Securities Clearing Company Limited (HKSCC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX), announces the appointment of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Asia) Limited (ICBC (Asia)) as a Settlement Bank. The appointment will take effect on Monday, 3 October 2016.

Highlights
- Trading under Shanghai Connect increased after approval was given for Shenzhen Connect. Northbound trading had a single-day net inflow of RMB5 billion on 16 August, a new high in 2016. Ten most actively traded stocks were all CES 300 constituents.
- CES 300 rose by 5.2 per cent in August, with a risk-adjusted return of 1.7, the highest among benchmark indices
- A shares trailed Hong Kong stocks in August, with CES A80 up 4.4 per cent. CES HKMI rose 6.9 per cent, the best performer among benchmark indices
- CES 120 surged by 5.7 per cent, outperforming many other stock market indices by a wide margin
- Open interest in Singapore’s FTSE China A50 Index futures reached a record high, with a nominal contract value of RMB44 billion

ESMA Consults On Future Rules For Financial Benchmarks

The new European regulatory framework for benchmarks will ensure their accuracy, robustness and integrity across the European Union. It will also clarify the behaviours and standards expected of administrators and contributors. These requirements will ensure that benchmarks are produced in a transparent and reliable manner and so contribute to well-functioning and stable markets, and investor protection.
