ASEAN Capital Market Regulators Roll Out Initiatives Under ACMF’s New 5-Year Roadmap

The ASEAN Capital Markets Forum (ACMF) today approved the ACMF Annual Implementation Plan 2016 (Annual Plan 2016), which sets out ACMF’s immediate priorities for the year, during its 24thmeeting hosted by the Securities and Exchange Commission, Thailand. This Annual Plan 2016 was developed based on the earlier approved ACMF Action Plan 2016-2020 (Action Plan) which will be presented to the ASEAN Finance Ministers at the upcoming meeting in April 2016 for endorsement. The Action Plan will drive the ACMF's objective of achieving an inter-connected, inclusive and resilient ASEAN capital market, to help realise the ASEAN Economic Community Vision 2025 of deepening economic integration over the next ten years.

The Monetary Authority of Singapore welcomed the move by the People’s Bank of China Chongqing Operations Office (PBC Chongqing) that will allow eligible corporates and individuals in Chongqing to conduct cross-border Renminbi (RMB) transactions with financial institutions and corporates in Singapore.

In the first two months of 2016 ETFs/ETPs listed in Japan have gathered a record level of US$9.24 Bn. ETFs/ETPs listed in Japan have gathered net inflows for 3 consecutive months.

At the end of the settlement date of March 15, 2016, short interest in 2,298 Nasdaq Global MarketSM securities totaled 8,250,861,296 shares compared with 8,306,919,216 shares in 2,296 Global Market issues reported for the prior settlement date of February 29, 2016. The Mid-March short interest represents 4.57 days average daily Nasdaq Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 4.05 days for the prior reporting period.

New York State Department of Financial Services: National Bank Of Pakistan Agrees To Enhance Anti-Money Laundering Compliance And Controls

The New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS) today announced that the National Bank of Pakistan (the Bank) has entered into a Written Agreement with DFS and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York (FRBNY) to strengthen compliance with Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering (BSA/AML) requirements, as well as the regulations issued by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) at the bank’s New York Branch.
