CFTC Orders Angus Partners LLC D/B/A Angus Energy To Pay A $250,000 Civil Penalty For Acting As An Unregistered Commodity Trading Advisor And For Disclosure Violations

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) today announced that it entered an Order requiring Angus Partners LLC D/B/A Angus Energy (Angus), a Florida limited liability company with its principal place of business in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to pay a $250,000 civil monetary penalty for acting as an unregistered Commodity Trading Advisor (CTA) and for violating certain disclosure rules applicable to CTAs.

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) today filed an Order instituting proceedings and settling charges against Respondent Aden Rusfeldt (a/k/a “Big A”) of Vail, Arizona. The CFTC Order finds that Rusfeldt fraudulently failed to disclose to prospective and current customers of his company, ETF Trend Trading, that he was prohibited from engaging in any commodity-interest related activity under a prior Court Order.

The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced that casino-gaming company International Game Technology (IGT) has agreed to pay a half-million dollar penalty for firing an employee with several years of positive performance reviews because he reported to senior management and the SEC that the company's financial statements might be distorted.

Office Of The Comptroller Of The Currency Assesses Penalty Against Wells Fargo - Orders Restitution For Violations Of The Servicemembers Civil Relief Act

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) today assessed a $20 million civil money penalty against Wells Fargo Bank, N.A., and ordered the bank to make restitution to servicemembers who were harmed by the bank’s violations of the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA).

A New York-based alternative investment and hedge fund manager, Och-Ziff Capital Management Group LLC (Och-Ziff), and its wholly-owned subsidiary, OZ Africa Management GP LLC (OZ Africa), entered into resolutions to resolve criminal charges and agreed to pay a criminal penalty of more than $213 million in connection with a widespread scheme involving the bribery of officials in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Libya.

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) filed a civil enforcement Complaint, charging Thomas C. Lindstrom, of Winnetka, Illinois, with fraud in connection with his trading of options on 10-year U.S. Treasury note futures (T-Note Options). Lindstrom is registered with the CFTC as a floor broker, has been a member of the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) since 1993, and is a long-time trader of T-Note Options offered on the CBOT.

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) today entered an Order filing and settling charges against Jon P. Ruggles of Orlando, Florida, for engaging in fraudulent, fictitious, and noncompetitive trades in crude oil and heating oil futures and options and RBOB gasoline futures on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX), a division of CME Group, from March 2012 to December 2012. During that time, Ruggles resided and worked in Atlanta, Georgia.
