Westpac MNI China Consumer Sentiment Indicator Falls To Six-Month Low In August - Expectations For Household Finances At Lowest On Record

Chinese consumer sentiment edged down in August in a broad based deterioration which saw declining optimism toward personal finances, business conditions and the job market. On a more optimistic note, consumers reported a slight improvement in their willingness to spend on big ticket items. It is worth highlighting that respondents in the Northeast and Southeast of China experienced a noticeable deterioration in August due in part to the recent massive flooding.

Today, the U.S. Department of the Treasury released a Joint Fact Sheet on Foreign Correspondent Banking developed with the Federal Reserve Board, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the National Credit Union Administration, and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency that outlines supervisory and enforcement processes with respect to anti-money laundering and sanctions in the area of correspondent banking.

CFTC Extends Comment Period On Proposed Amendments To Regulation 4.22 Regarding CPO Annual Reports

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has extended the comment period on its proposed amendments to Regulation 4.22, which concerns the Annual Report that each commodity pool operator registered or required to be registered with the CFTC must distribute for each commodity pool that it operates. The original comment period was set to expire September 6, 2016. See 81 Fed. Reg. 51828 (Aug. 5, 2016). With this extension, the comment period will expire September 20, 2016.
