    His Excellency Essa Kazim, Governor of Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), welcomed a United Kingdom parliamentary delegation and His Excellency Sulaiman Al Mazroui, the UAE Ambassador to the UK, on a special visit to DIFC, the leading international financial hub in the Middle East, Africa and South Asian region.

  • EBA Provides Guidance On Bail-In Under The BRRD

    The European Banking Authority (EBA) issued today three sets of final Guidelines on bail-in under the Bank Recovery and Resolution Directive (BRRD). These Guidelines complement existing regulation and guidance to facilitate the use of the bail-in power as a way of absorbing losses and recapitalising banks in resolution. In particular the Guidelines clarify how valuation information should help determine the terms of bail-in.

    Complementing President Juncker's speech, and thanking him for his confidence, let me start by congratulating the excellent work done - under the auspices of President Tajani and all the political groups - by Guy Verhofstadt and his team, with whom I have cooperated closely since I started in this role. We have already started working efficienty and constructively and I am sure that that will continue.

  • Brexit: MEPs Agree On Key Conditions For Approving UK Withdrawal Agreement

    An overwhelming majority of the house (516 votes in favour, 133 against, with 50 abstentions) adopted a resolution officially laying down the European Parliament’s key principles and conditions for its approval of the UK's withdrawal agreement. Any such agreement at the end of UK-EU negotiations will need to win the approval of the European Parliament.
