The U.S. stock market’s stellar performance helped Texas’ public employee pension funds average 11 percent returns in 2017, according to a survey performed by Maples Fund Services for the Texas Association of Public Employee Retirement Systems. The 63 systems responding beat the average target rate of 7.5 percent in both the one-year and 15-year periods.

During its March 2018 meeting, the ESMA Board of Supervisors discussed whether a CCP can exempt certain Clearing Members (typically public entities such as governmental entities, central banks and supranational entities) from the financial obligations under Articles 41 and 42 of EMIR, i.e. to provide the CCP with initial margins and default fund contributions.

EBA Consults On Guidelines On Disclosure Of Non-Performing And Forborne Exposures

The European Banking Authority (EBA) launched today a consultation on its Guidelines on disclosure by credit institutions of information on non-performing and forborne exposures. The Guidelines specify the information related to non-performing (NPE) and forborne exposures and foreclosed assets that banks should disclose and provide uniform disclosure formats. By addressing potential asymmetries of information and providing common disclosure on the quality of banks' assets, the Guidelines seek to foster transparency and market discipline. The consultation runs until 27 July 2018.

Finansinspektionen: Decision Regarding The Countercyclical Buffer Rate

Finansinspektionen (FI) decided on 26 April not to change the countercyclical buffer rate. The buffer rate of two per cent, which has applied since 19 March 2017, shall thus continue to apply. The countercyclical buffer guide is set at 0 per cent.
