ESMA Publishes MiFID II Supervisory Briefing On Suitability

The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has today published an updated version of its supervisory briefing on MiFID II suitability requirements. This publication is an updated version of ESMA’s 2012 supervisory briefing and takes into account the content of ESMA’s guidelines on certain aspects of the MIFID II suitability requirements published on 28 May 2018.

Through our Fintech working group, we are working across the Federal Reserve System to take a deliberate approach to understanding the potential implications of AI for financial services, particularly as they relate to our responsibilities. In light of the potential importance of AI, we are seeking to learn from industry, banks, consumer advocates, researchers, and others, including through today's conference. I am pleased to take part in this timely discussion of how technology is changing the financial landscape.

CUSIP Request Volume Rebounds In October, Suggesting Possible Increase In Debt And Equity Issuance In Q4 - Municipal, Corporate Equity And Corporate Debt Pre-Market Activity Climbs Following September Slump

CUSIP Global Services (CGS) today announced the release of its CUSIP Issuance Trends Report for October 2018. The report, which tracks the issuance of new security identifiers as an early indicator of debt and capital markets activity, found across-the-board increases in monthly request volume for new municipal, corporate equity and corporate debt identifiers in October. This is suggestive of an increase in new security issuance.
