Canadian Securities Regulators Temporarily Increase Short-Term Borrowing Limits For Mutual Funds Investing In Fixed Income

The Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) today issued temporary blanket relief that permits mutual funds to engage in additional short-term borrowing from April 17, 2020 to July 31, 2020. The conditional temporary relief is available to any mutual fund in Canada that invests a portion of its assets in fixed income securities, including equity funds holding a portion of fixed income securities.

CFTC: New York Federal Court Orders Defendants To Pay More Than $595,000 For Forex Solicitation Fraud And Misappropriation

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission today announced that the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York entered an order of consent judgment against Jason Amada and his company Amada Capital Management LLC, both of New York, finding they fraudulently solicited more than $680,000 from 18 clients to open individually managed off-exchange foreign currency (forex) accounts and misappropriated client funds.

The Swedish Bankers’ Association Transfers Administration Of STIBOR To Swedish Financial Benchmark Facility

he Swedish Bankers’ Association has announced that the association is transferring the administration of the Swedish benchmark STIBOR to Swedish Financial Benchmark Facility (SFBF), whereupon the task of adapting STIBOR to the requirements set out in the EU Benchmarks Regulation falls to SFBF. Finansinspektionen will assess the application for authorisation of SFBF as administrator of STIBOR when it is submitted.

EBA Agrees With The European Commission’s Amendments To Standards On Risk Weights To Specialised Lending Exposures

The European Banking Authority (EBA) published today an Opinion in response to the European Commission’s intention to amend the EBA’s final draft regulatory technical standards (RTS) on assigning risk weights to specialised lending exposures before endorsing them. The EBA is of the view that the proposed changes, despite their substantive nature, do not alter the draft RTS in a significant manner, as they still maintain a good balance between the flexibility and risk sensitivity required for the IRB approach and the need for a harmonised regulatory framework.

ETFGI Reports ETFs And ETPs Listed Globally Gathered Net Inflows Of US$20.44 Billion During March 2020

ETFGI, a leading independent research and consultancy firm covering trends in the global ETFs and ETPs ecosystem, reported today that ETFs and ETPs listed globally gathered net inflows of US$20.44 billion during March, bringing year-to-date net inflows to US$119.13 billion which is higher than the US$99.06 billion gathered at this point last year. Assets invested in the global ETFs/ETPs industry have decreased by 11.1%, from US$6.04 trillion at the end of February 2020, to US$5.37 trillion at the end of March, according to ETFGI's March 2020 Global ETFs and ETPs industry landscape insights report, an annual paid-for research subscription service.
