Bob Stewart has joined DTCC’s Institutional Trade Processing (ITP) team, where he is responsible leading critical industry initiatives that drive further automation in the institutional post-trade process. Within this role, he will partner with the industry to achieve the ITP vision and strategy to drive an integrated post-trade lifecycle through settlement finality, develop solutions to help our clients prepare and manage CSDR requirements, and focus on the continued adoption of ALERT, DTCC’s standing settlement instruction database.

China’s President Xi Jinping attended a grand gathering and delivered an important speech in Shenzhen celebrating the 40th anniversary of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone (SEZ) on Oct 14. Shenzhen should deepen reform on all fronts, Xi said, noting that the CPC Central Committee supports the city in implementing pilot programs to deepen comprehensive reform. He also encouraged Shenzhen to expand all-round opening up, calling for efforts to accelerate opening-up while improving institutional arrangements, and explore a more flexible policy system and a more scientific management system in terms of domestic and foreign trade, investment and financing, finance and taxation, financial innovation, as well as personnel exit and entry.

BETTER FINANCE: Dismantling The Estonian Pension System Is Not The Answer

On Tuesday, 20 October 2020, the Supreme Court of Estonia ruled that the current government’s hotly contested pensions “reform” is not unconstitutional. The reform is set to dismantle the foundation of the second (occupational) pillar of the Estonian pension system. It is worth noting that many of the Judges who ruled in its favour, did admit that although the law is likely to have an overall negative effect on second pillar pensions and does violate some property rights, it does not breach the Constitution.

Bursa Malaysia Announces RM272.9 Million Profit After Tax And Minority Interest For The Nine Months Ended 30 September 2020

Bursa Malaysia Berhad (“Bursa Malaysia” or the “Exchange”) recorded a Profit After Tax and Minority Interest (“PATAMI”) of RM272.9 million for the nine-month financial period ended 30 September 2020 (“9M2020”), a 94.5% increase from RM140.3 million reported in the previous corresponding period ended 30 September 2019 (“9M2019”). The increase in PATAMI is due to higher operating revenue, which increased by 55.0% to RM554.0 million from the previous corresponding period.
