  • CFTC Orders Tyson Foods To Pay $1.5 Million For Position Limit, Reporting, And Recordkeeping Violations

    The Commodity Futures Trading Commission today filed and settled charges against Tyson Foods, Inc., for exceeding the CFTC’s position limits for soybean meal futures contracts traded on the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) and for failing to comply with reporting and recordkeeping obligations regarding its cash positions in grains. The order requires Tyson to pay a $1.5 million civil monetary penalty and to cease and desist from violating the Commodity Exchange Act and CFTC regulations as charged.

  • Nigerian Exchange Market Report For August 13th, 2021

    A total turnover of 1.610 billion shares worth N12.586 billion in 18,622 deals were traded this week by investors on the floor of the Exchange, in contrast to a total of 989.593 million shares valued at N8.183 billion that exchanged hands last week in 19,617 deals.

SPIKES Futures contributed by having its 4th best day on record with 3,319 contracts.

    On his last day with the Commission, we would like to thank Joe Brenner for his decade-long service to this agency as our Division of Enforcement’s Chief Counsel.  Joe came to the SEC with many years of experience practicing securities law and wanted to put that expertise to work for the benefit of American investors and markets.  Under Joe’s leadership, Enforcement’s Office of Chief Counsel grew in expertise and responsibility and serves a critical role in advising the Director of Enforcement as well as the rest of the Enforcement staff on investigations and recommendations to the Commission.  Joe has always been a staunch supporter of his team, the Enforcement staff, and the agency’s enforcement program.  We have truly appreciated Joe’s extensive knowledge, his wise counsel, and his strong commitment to protecting investors and our markets.

  • Municipal CUSIP Request Volumes Slow In July, Ending 5-Month Growth Streak

    CUSIP Global Services (CGS) today announced the release of its CUSIP Issuance Trends Report for July 2021. The report, which tracks the issuance of new security identifiers as an early indicator of debt and capital markets activity over the next quarter, found a significant monthly decrease in request volume for new municipal identifiers and a slight increase in request volume for new corporate identifiers.
