    • The S&P Europe 350® added another 2% in August, breaking further into uncharted territory during a seventh straight month in which the index recorded fresh all-time highs.
    • Momentum and Information Technology were the leading S&P Europe 350 factor and sector indices, respectively, while the Netherlands punched above its weight among countries. 
    • Meanwhile, driven by renewed hopes of accelerating economic growth and a revival in inflation expectations, our European fixed income indices largely posted small losses.

  • U.S. Department Of The Treasury: Preliminary Annual Report On U.S. Holdings Of Foreign Securities At Year-End 2020

    Preliminary data from an annual survey of U.S. portfolio holdings of foreign securities at year-end 2020 were released today and posted on the Treasury web site at (https://home.treasury.gov/data/treasury-international-capital-tic-system/tic-forms-instructions/us-claims-on-foreigners-from-holdings-of-foreign-securities). The final survey report, which will include additional detail as well as possible revisions to the data, will be released on October 29, 2021.

    SEC Chair Gary Gensler has directed the staff to carefully monitor developments as a result of Hurricane Ida making landfall on Aug. 29, 2021. The safety of local residents is our highest priority. We invite inquiries from any person with obligations under the federal securities laws that may be affected by Hurricane Ida. The staff will evaluate the appropriateness of providing regulatory relief for those affected by the storm.

    Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that Adrienne Harris has been nominated to lead the New York State Department of Financial Services as its next Superintendent. Formerly a top economic advisor to President Obama, Ms. Harris will become the state's top financial regulator tasked with overseeing the banking and insurance industries and their compliance with state laws as New York works to rebuild its economy in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, if confirmed by the Senate.
