SIFMA Issues 2022 And 2023 Fixed Income Recommendations For Full & Early Holiday Closes In The U.S., U.K., And Japan

SIFMA today issued its 2022 and 2023 holiday recommendations for the trading of U.S. dollar-denominated fixed income securities in the U.S. and the U.K. All 2023 recommendations for Japan are subject to confirmation by the Bank of Japan. SIFMA will confirm its 2023 recommendations for Japan in early 2022.

Each proposal reflects countless staff hours spent researching, writing, thinking, and working across offices and divisions to promote our agency’s three part mission. Fairer outcomes for investors and improved efficiency in our markets are urgent needs, and we are only able to tackle all this work because of the SEC staff’s efforts and expertise. We have asked a lot of you, and you have always answered the call. Thank you.

Today, the Commission is considering the 2022 budget and accounting support fee request for the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB). I support this $310 million budget and annual support fee request — an 8 percent increase over 2021 — because the PCAOB requires additional resources to perform its work on behalf of the public every day.

In particular, I appreciate the work of the staff of the Division of Trading and Markets, the Office of General Counsel, and the Division of Economic and Risk Analysis to prepare this proposal – which is really three proposals, so triple thanks to this team.
