Thank you, Jens, and thank you to the European Central Bank for the opportunity to speak to you today. Like other central banks, the Federal Reserve is confronted with how to respond to the effects of the conflict in the Middle East, which has constrained supplies and raised prices for petroleum and other goods. While I am hopeful that the conflict is on a path toward a peaceful resolution, it is unclear how long these supply disruptions and their economic impact will last, and that has become one of the biggest questions for the U.S. economy and the path of monetary policy.

The US strengthened its dominance in global venture capital (VC) landscape during January-April 2026, riding on a stable deal-making momentum alongside a sharp surge in invested capital. While the total number of VC deals announced in the US edged up 1% year-on-year (YoY), the corresponding total VC funding value jumped by a massive 178%, according to GlobalData, a leading intelligence and productivity platform.

UAE Capital Market Authority Announces Eid Al-Adha Holiday For Financial Markets

In accordance with a circular issued by the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources concerning Eid Al-Adha holiday for 2026, and following coordination with the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX), the Dubai Financial Market (DFM), and the Dubai Gold and Commodities Exchange (DGCX), the Capital Market Authority (CMA) has announced that the ADX and DFM will close for the holiday from Tuesday, Dhul-Hijjah 9 (May 26) until Friday, Dhul-Hijjah 12 (May 29). Trading will resume on Monday, June 1.
