  • October Equity Options Volume Breaks Monthly, Daily And Open Interest Records

    The Options Industry Council (OIC) announced that options trading reached new heights in October as records were set for daily and monthly volume, and equity open interest. October volume was 70,079,672 contracts, which breaks the previous monthly record of 66,172,654 contracts set in March. The October volume surpassed October 1999 volume of 44,343,625 contracts by 58 percent.

  • Eurex World's First Exchange To Break Through 400 Million Contract Mark

    Trading volume on Eurex, the world's largest derivatives exchange, broke through the 400 million contract mark on Thursday. With 400,423,702 contracts traded, Eurex is the world's first derivatives exchange to top 400 million contracts. Eurex volume is now already more than 21 million contracts, or roughly 6 percent, ahead of the total volume traded in 1999.
