CESR Takes Steps To Engage Retail Investors In The EU Single Market

Investor associations and securities supervisors from across Europe gathered in Valencia, Spain, on Monday and Tuesday of this week, to discuss practical ways to improve the participation of consumer associations in the development of European securities supervision policy and to consider the role the Committee of European Securities Regulators (CESR) may play in assisting national supervisors to educate investors.

CBOT Average Daily Volume Climbs 22 Percent In November From October Levels - Year-To-Date ADV Increases By 14.3 percent

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT®) announced today that Exchange-wide average daily volume (ADV) continued on an upswing, climbing to 2,877,583 contracts in November 2005, up 22 percent over October 2005. Further, the Exchange’s October 2005 three-month rolling average rate per contract rose 3 percent to $0.516 from $0.501 in September 2005, due in part to Exchange fee increases implemented October 1, 2005.

CBOE'S Volume Rises 23% In November: Average Daily Volume For Month Exceeds Two Million Contracts For Second Time In CBOE History

The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) announced today that November trading volume at CBOE was 42.8 million contracts, up 23% over November 2004. For the second consecutive month, and only the second time in CBOE's 32-year history, average daily volume for a month exceeded 2 million contracts as November ADV at CBOE was 2,036,400 contracts. CBOE's year-to-date total volume of 427.4 million contracts traded is 29% ahead of 2004's year-to-date total trading volume of 330.4 million contracts.

In November trading in equities on the Spanish market through SIBE reached € 69.08 bn, 22% up on the same month in 2004. The value of trading on Latibex came in at € 60 million, a monthly record high. The number of options and futures contracts traded on MEFF to November was 33.71 million, 39% up on the year. Trading volume in Corporate Debt on AIAF in November was 57% up on the same month last year.

114 Million Contracts Traded On Eurex In November - Record Volume For Full Year 2004 Already Surpassed By November 2005 - Eurex Open Interest Exceeds 100 Million Contracts For The First Time

Turnover on Eurex, the international derivatives market, rose by 23 percent to 114 million contracts in November. In the first eleven months of this year, 1.16 billion contracts were traded, a year-on-year increase of around 18 percent. Turnover this year has already exceeded the record of 1.07 billion contracts achieved in 2004. In addition, open interest rose to a new record level of 107.9 million contracts on 17 November. Standard & Poor’s will make the following changes in the S&P Global 100 Index, effective after the close of trading on Friday 2nd December 2005: Suez SA (France, SEDOL: 7118047, GICS: Utilities, GICS Code: 55103010), a member of the S&P Europe 350, S&P Euro Plus, S&P Euro and S&P Global 100 indices, shares will increase to 1,250,164,618. This is due to a capital increase related to the acquisition of Electrabel SA.
