IMF Regional Economic Outlook For The Middle East And Central Asia Sees Positive Near-Term Economic Outlook, But Highlights The Need For Policies To Strengthen Resilience To Downside Risks

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) yesterday presented the September 2006 Middle East and Central Asia Regional Economic Outlook (REO) at the Dubai International Financial Centre. Mr. Mohsin Khan, Director of the IMF's Middle East and Central Asia Department, highlighted the report's main findings:
HKEx: Arrangements For Adjustment Of Cathay Pacific Futures And Options

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) has announced the arrangements for the adjustment to the contract terms of all open Cathay Pacific Airways (CPA) Futures and Options contracts in existence after the market close on 18 October 2006, the business day immediately before the ex-dividend day of 19 October 2006, to account for CPA's proposed special dividend of $0.32 per share.

New Repo Market Initiatives At The ICMA European Repo Council

Representatives from the banks who are major participants in the European repo market discussed a number of market initiatives at the general meeting of the ICMA European Repo Council (ERC) in London last week. The meeting heard reports from regulators and market infrastructure providers on progress in operational issues which have an effect on the efficiency and therefore the costs of business in this rapidly growing market.

The Bank Of Russia Launches Demand Deposit Operations And Credit Operations Using The MICEX System Of Electronic Trading

Russian banks can now use the MICEX System of Electronic Trading to effect deposit transactions with the Bank of Russia to place funds on the Bank of Russia’s deposit on “demand” terms as well as credit transactions (collateral crediting). Besides, the MICEX has introduced the second (evening) trading session, in the course of which participants can effect deposit and credit transactions with the Bank of Russia on fixed terms.

New Morgan Stanley ETF Worldwide Guidebook - For Non-US Investors

Worldwide, at the end of Q3 there were 669 ETFs with 926 listings managed by 68 managers trading on 37 exchanges with assets of $504.51 USD Bn. Year to date there have been 211 new ETFs launched globally, close to double the 119 launched in all of 2005. There are plans to launch a further 193 ETFs worldwide.
