  • NYSE Group To Acquire One-Third Interest In SIAC Held By The American Stock Exchange - NYSE Group Will Fully Own SIAC

    NYSE Group, Inc. (NYSE: NYX) and the American Stock Exchange® (Amex®) today announced the execution of a definitive agreement for the NYSE to acquire the one-third ownership stake in the Securities Industry Automation Corporation (SIAC) held by Amex for approximately $40 million. Upon completion of the transaction, which is expected to close in Nov. 2006, NYSE Group will fully own SIAC, including Sector, Inc. and SFTI®. Currently, NYSE Group owns two-thirds of SIAC.

  • Standard & Poor's Announces Changes In The S&P/TSX

    Standard & Poor's will make the following changes in the S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index after the close of trading on Wednesday, October 25, 2006: ChondroGene Limited (TSXVN:CDG) will be removed from the index. The company will graduate to the TSX to trade under the name GeneNews Limited and the new ticker symbol GEN.

    Standard & Poor's Canadian Index Operations announces the following index changes: The shareholders of Extendicare Inc. (TSX:EXE.A) have agreed to the proposal to convert the company to an income trust to be named Extendicare REIT (TSX:EXE.UN). Extendicare Inc. will be removed from the S&P/TSX Equity, Capped Equity, Equity SmallCap and Capped Health Care Indices.
