Monetary Authority Of Singapore Penalises 3 Banks And An Insurer For Breaches Of Anti-Money Laundering Requirements

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) has imposed composition penalties amounting to S$3.8 million in total on Citibank N.A., Singapore Branch (Citibank), DBS Bank Ltd (DBS), OCBC Singapore (OCBC) and Swiss Life (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. (SLSG) for breaches of MAS’ Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) requirements. All these financial institutions (FIs) have accepted the penalties.

The Amendments to the Detailed Business Rules for Peanut Kernel Futures of Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange and Detailed Business Rules for Fresh Apple Futures of Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange have been adopted at the 3th meeting of the 8th Board of Governors of Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange and filed with the China Securities Regulatory Commission. The amendments are now hereby published and shall be effective from June 26, 2023.

Dato’ Seri Dr. Awang Adek Hussin, Chairman of the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC), opened the SRI 2023 Conference by saying that Malaysian companies in global networks and supply chains must adopt good corporate practices. “Malaysian PLCs should be ahead of the curve since they have been reporting on sustainability since 2015, and Bursa Malaysia’s sustainability requirements are in line with ISSB standards.”

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) today published a whitepaper proposing a common protocol to specify conditions for the use of digital money such as central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), tokenised bank deposits, and stablecoins on a distributed ledger.

SEC Reopens Comment Period For Position Reporting Of Large Security-Based Swap Positions

The Securities and Exchange Commission today reopened the comment period for its proposed rule for position reporting of large security-based swap positions that exceed certain thresholds, and the staff of the Commission’s Division of Economic and Risk Analysis released a memorandum that provides supplemental data and analysis regarding the proposed reporting thresholds in the equity security-based swap market.

SEC Charges Private Equity Fund Adviser For Overcharging Fees And Failing To Disclose Fee Calculation Conflict

The Securities and Exchange Commission today charged New York-based investment adviser Insight Venture Management LLC with charging excess management fees and failing to disclose a conflict of interest to investors relating to its fee calculations. To settle the SEC’s charges, Insight agreed to pay a $1.5 million penalty and $864,958 in disgorgement and prejudgment interest, which has already been paid back to the impacted funds.
