FINRA Fines J. P. Morgan Securities $500,000 For Failing To Disclose Use Of Payments To Consultants To Obtain Numerous Municipal Securities Offerings

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) today announced that it has fined J.P. Morgan Securities, Inc. $500,000 for failing to disclose to the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board (MSRB) that it had used consultants to obtain numerous municipal securities offerings and had made payments to consultants connected to particular offerings. FINRA is responsible for enforcing MSRB rules.

Eurex Launches Incentive Program For Central And South-Eastern Europe - Promotion Of Proprietary Trading In New EU Member States - Global Connectivity Initiative To Be Continued In 2008

The international derivatives exchange Eurex will continue to expand its international distribution network in 2008. As of 1 January 2008, an incentive program will be initiated for new traders from central and (south-)eastern European countries (CEE states), and the Global Connectivity Initiative, which was launched at the beginning of 2007, will be extended for another year.

European Commission: European Financial Integration Report 2007

The European Commission has released its European Financial Integration Report (EFIR), an annual analysis of integration of the EU financial services sector. EFIR is a new step in the monitoring of European financial integration, merging in two former reports: the Financial Integration Monitor and the Single Market in Financial Services Progress Report.

CESR Starts Work On Employee Share Scheme Prospectuses And Publishes The European Commission’s Request To CESR For Assistance

CESR is publishing today a letter from Commissioner Charlie McCreevy to CESR’s Chairs requesting CESR’s assistance on the issue of employee share schemes. The European Commission is requesting regulators to adopt a common light-touch approach under the Prospectus Directive and Regulation for offers to employees.

Clearstream: Activity Continued To Grow In November 2007

Clearstream processed 2.70 million international transactions in November 2007, a 24 percent rise over November 2006 (2.18 million). Of these transactions, 76 percent were Over the Counter (OTC) transactions and 24 percent were registered as stock exchange transactions. Domestic settlement transactions in Germany stood at 4.14 million compared to 3.28 million for the same month last year (a rise of 26 percent). Of these transactions 67 percent were stock exchange transactions and 33 percent OTC
