The Securities and Exchange Commission announced today that the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois has entered final judgment against James E. Koenig, the former CFO of Waste Management, Inc., after a jury found that he committed 60 securities laws violations in a five-year period.

NYSE Euronext (NYSE Euronext: NYX) today announced that on Dec. 31, 2007, it completed the previously announced transfer of all ETFs and ETNs from the NYSE to NYSE Arca, NYSE Euronext’s fully electronic U.S. listing and trading platform. In 2007, NYSE Arca added 121 new ETFs and 17 new ETNs to its roster of primary listings, including a record 100 IPOs. Additionally, NYSE Arca established ten new issuer relationships with ETF and ETN sponsors that had notpreviously listed product on NYSE Arca.

(Nasdaq:NDAQ) today announced the year-end performance of the NASDAQ Composite Index(r) and the NASDAQ-100 Index(r) -- the benchmarks of The NASDAQ Stock Market(r) and leading indicators of the U.S.-listed equity market. In 2007, the NASDAQ Composite Index and the NASDAQ-100 Index increased 9.81% and 18.67%, respectively.

The Financial Services Authority (FSA), in its Retail Distribution Review discussion paper, has acknowledged that it is searching for solutions that will enable the industry to deliver financial services and retain the public’s trust in the industry. The SII’s response is that the aim is admirable and there are already many examples of good practice in the industry which FSA can adopt.
