    Over the week of December 8th – December 12th, 2008, the RTS Index went up by 10,58% to reach 652,21 points (589,79 points as of December 5th, 2008). Most of the positive impact on the Index dynamics was related to the growing prices for ОАО "LUKOIL" ordinary shares (LKOH) (plus 19,66 points), ordinary shares of OJSC "OC "Rosneft" (ROSN) (plus 11,44 points) and Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) (plus 7,07 points).

The new indices allow money managers to exploit the volatility in the UK market by allowing investors to go short the market or gear up.
