SEC Charges GlaxoSmithKline Subsidiary And Former CEO With Defrauding Employees In Stock Plan

The Securities and Exchange Commission today charged a subsidiary of pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline and the subsidiary’s former chairman and CEO with defrauding employees and other shareholders in the company’s stock plan by buying back their stock at severely undervalued prices.

Virtu Financial Acquires NYSE AMEX Designated Market Maker - Approved DMM For NYSE And NYSE Amex

Virtu Financial (“Virtu”) today announced the acquisition of the Designated Market Maker (“DMM”) business from Cohen Capital Group’s NYSE Amex DMM Unit and Virtu’s entrance as a registered floor-based market maker at the New York Stock Exchange (“NYSE”) and NYSE Amex, wholly owned subsidiaries of NYSE Euronext (NYX). The acquisition was completed today and terms of the deal were not disclosed.

International Securities Exchange Adopts Exegy Ticker Plant

Exegy, Inc., the market data appliance company, announced today that the International Securities Exchange (ISE) has adopted the Exegy Ticker Plant to handle all inbound data feeds. With this new technology, ISE will be able to lower the latency of its inbound data feeds as well as reduce its production server footprint.

Improved Monitoring And Reporting On Financial Instruments Related To EU Cchesion Policy

The European Commission welcomes the approval today by the EU Member States to improve the monitoring and reporting on financial instruments available under cohesion policy like guarantee schemes to finance the start up of new small companies. This will mean that Member States will have to report once a year on progress made in financing and implementing these instruments. Such reporting will allow the Commission to better assess the overall performance of financial instruments across Member States. Together with additional information to be presented with each statement of expenditure, the Commission will be able to produce accurate and comprehensive accounts, which give a true image of the Union's assets and of the actual budgetary implementation.

FTSE Announces New Ownership Structure

FTSE International Limited (‘FTSE”) today announces a change to its current joint-venture ownership structure, with the London Stock Exchange Group (“London Stock Exchange Group”) announcing it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the 50 per cent stake in FTSE International Limited, from Pearson, that the London Stock Exchange Group does not already own.
