Speech By SEC Commissioner Troy A. Paredes: Statement At Open Meeting To Adopt A Final Rule Excluding A "Family Office" From The Definition Of "Investment Adviser"

Thank you, Chairman Schapiro.
By excluding a “family office” from the definition of “investment adviser,” Section 409 of the Dodd-Frank Act works to exempt “family offices” from the Investment Advisers Act. Dodd-Frank directs the Commission to define “family office” for purposes of the new family office exclusion from “investment adviser.” The recommendation before us is to do just that: to adopt a final rule to define “family office.”

IMF Consultations On Managing Sovereign Risk And Public Debt Consider New Directions For Debt Management In Light Of The Crisis and Principles For Portfolio Stress Testing

On June 22-23, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) held its annual consultations on managing public debt “Legacy of the Crisis: Long Term Implications for Managing Sovereign Risk, Government Balance Sheets, and Debt Management”. The event held in Seoul, Republic of Korea, was co-hosted by the Ministry of Strategy and Finance of the Republic of Korea.

U.S.A. Agencies Extend Comment Period On Swap Margin And Capital Proposed Rulemaking

Five federal agencies have approved and will submit a Federal Register notice that extends the comment period on a proposed rule to establish margin and capital requirements for swap dealers, major swap participants, security-based swap dealers, and major security-based swap participants as required by the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. The comment period was extended to July 11, 2011, to allow interested persons more time to analyze the issues and prepare their comments. Originally, comments were due by June 24, 2011.

First Scheduled Auctioning Of Emission Allowances - EUAs In Athens Exchange

The first scheduled auction of European Union Emission Allowances (EUAs) by the Greek Government's New Entrants' Reserve will take place on Wednesday, the 29th of June 2011. A quantity of 1.100.000 EUAs will be auctioned through the OASIS trading platform of Athens Exchange (ATHEX).
