  • EEX Sets New Daily Record On The Gas Market

    At 424,435 MWh (GASPOOL, NCG and TTF market areas)trading on the Natural Gas Spot Market of the European Energy Exchange (EEX) reached a new record level last Friday, 3 February 2012. An amount of 374,232 MWh of this total was sold in day-ahead trading and 50,203 MWh thereof were sold in within-day trading. In total, 49 trading participants concluded 329 transactions on Friday. The previous record had been achieved on 23 June 2010 with a traded volume of 300,286 MWh.

    • The average daily turnover in January 2012 was $55,618 million, a decrease of 26 per cent when compared with $75,016 million for the same period last year.
    • The average daily turnover of CBBCs in January 2012 was $7,084 million, an increase of 22 per cent when compared with $5,816 million for the same period in 2011.
    • There were 11 new listings in January 2012, an increase of 22 per cent when compared with 9 for the same period in 2011.

  • LME Launches Live Forward Price Curve

    The London Metal Exchange (LME) today will begin publishing live forward prices for all metals traded in the last Ring session of the day (the afternoon “Kerb”), a refinement that will add further transparency to the procedures used to establish the Closing Prices.

    In a speech to the British Bankers’ Association, Hector Sants, chief executive of the FSA, gave an update on the progress of the regulatory reform programme. He announced a major milestone in the regulatory reform programme, namely the introduction of a ‘twin peaks’ model operating within the FSA from 2 April 2012.
