- Share volumes traded across Tape A, B, and Cincreased 2% monthly and 16% annually to182 billion shares (see chart).
- In October 2011, off-exchange trading accounted for 29% of the shares traded in NMS Equity Securities, an increase of 2%.
- Share volumes in NYSE-listed securitiesincreased 5% monthly and 11% annually to101 billion shares.
- NASDAQ-listed securities traded over exchange increased 1% monthly and 9% annually to 44 billion shares.

According to a broadly-based survey conducted by the market research firm Forsa on behalf of Boerse Stuttgart, over two thirds of Germans regard a knowledge of ‘investment and finance’ as very important, yet only 50 percent believe they are well informed on the subject. 84 percent of those who took part believe that everyone ought to have an understanding of investment and finance.
