The NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:NDAQ) today announced that it has been selected as technology partner for the New Zealand market (NZX). NASDAQ OMX will deliver its widely deployed X-stream technology to power NZX’s trading platform. The new platform will handle trading of equities and derivatives securities and is scheduled to be rolled out at the end of Q3 or early Q4 of 2012. NASDAQ OMX was selected in competition with a number of global exchange technology providers.

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) today announced that a federal court in New York ordered more than $4.6 million in restitution and a civil monetary penalty in a 2003 CFTC enforcement action against defendants Thomas Qualls and his company, International Foreign Currency, Inc. (IFC), which charged the defendants with misappropriation, fraudulent solicitation, and unlawfully offering off-exchange foreign currency (forex) futures contracts.
