The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), together with Phatra Securities pcl and Bank of America Merrill Lynch, will hold “Thailand Focus 2012” during August 29-31 at the Four Seasons Hotel, Bangkok, under the theme, “Positioning Thailand for the Next Growth Phase,” to present Thailand’s growth opportunities and strengths of Thai listed companies to investors around the globe.

Positive First Half-Year For SIX

SIX posted upbeat results in the first half of 2012. While operating income fell by 7.4% toCHF 582.3 million, Group net income more than doubled year-on-year to CHF 250.9 million, mainly due to the income from the sale of the Eurex participation. Adjusted for the Eurex effect in both reporting periods and in local currency, operating income was in line with the year-back figure, and Group net income was up 47.9% at CHF 78.8 million.

S&P Dow Jones Indices Announces Changes To The S&P/TSX Canadian Indices - A Deletion From The S&P/TSX SmallCap And Global Mining Indices

S&P Canadian Index Services will make the following changes in the S&P/TSX Canadian Indices:
The shareholders of Extorre Gold Mines Ltd. (TSX:XG) have accepted the cash and share takeover offer from Yamana Gold Inc. (TSX:YRI). Extorre Gold shares will be exchanged for $CDN3.50 cash and 0.0467 shares of Yamana. Extorre Gold will be removed from the S&P/TSX SmallCap and Equity SmallCap, the S&P/TSX Global Mining and the S&P/TSX Global Gold Indices effective after the close of Friday, August 24, 2012.

I support the proposed relief from the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (Dodd-Frank Act) swaps provisions for certain electricity-related transactions entered into on markets administered by regional transmission organizations (RTOs) or independent system operators (ISOs). The relief responds to a petition filed by a group of RTOs and ISOs.

California Hedge Fund Manager Found Guilty For Insider Trading - Convicted On Four Counts For Trading On Marvell, Polycom And Google Inside Information, Earning His Firm More Than $900,000 In Illegal Profits

Doug Whitman, a portfolio manager at Whitman Capital LLC, was found guilty today by a jury in Manhattan federal court on all four counts of conspiracy and securities fraud crimes stemming from his involvement in two insider trading schemes that earned his firm more than $900,000 in illegal profits, announced Preet Bharara, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York. As part of the schemes, Whitman executed trades based on material, non-public information, related to three publicly traded companies: Marvell Technology Group Ltd., Polycom Inc. and Google Inc. He was convicted after a three-week trial before U.S. District Judge Jed S. Rakoff.

CFTC Issues Proposed Order To Exempt Certain Specified Transactions Of Regional Transmission Organizations And Independent System Operators

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) today approved a proposed order that would exempt certain specified transactions of Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs) and Independent System Operators (ISOs) from certain provisions of the Commodity Exchange Act (CEA) and Commission regulations. This order is in response to a petition from certain RTOs and ISOs that are subject to regulation by either the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) or the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT). The Commission voted 5 to 0 via seriatim, and the comment period will be open for 30 days after publication in the Federal Register. Comments may be submitted electronically through the Commission’s website at http://comments.cftc.gov.
