In a speech drawn from a paper presented at the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association’s (SIFMA) Legal Entity Identifier Symposium in New York, Andrew Haldane – Executive Director for Financial Stability and member of the Financial Policy Committee – considers the benefits of finance adopting a common language that he believes “…could transform both itself and its contribution to wider society.” The paper is written jointly with two Bank colleagues, Robleh Ali and Paul Nahai-Williamson.

Corporate bond coupons are set to be driven higher and issuance will become prohibitively expensive for SMEs (small and medium enterprises) as US and European regulatory change forces a liquidity crisis in secondary trading and activity concentrates in only the largest, shortest bonds issued by the most trusted names, according to new research published today by TABB Group.

The District Court today acquitted Mr David Vong Tat-Ieong (Vong), chief executive officer of Vongroup Ltd (Vongroup), of two charges that he disclosed false or misleading information inducing the sale or purchase of securities or to maintain or increase the price of Vongroup shares. -
