I am honored to join you this evening here in my hometown. Before I begin, I must thank Dallas Federal Reserve Bank President Lorie Logan, Senior Vice President Sam Schulhofer-Wohl, and Senior Vice President of the Houston Branch of the Dallas Federal Reserve Bank Daron Peschel for the invitation to join you this evening. I should also share an anticipated disclaimer. The views that I will share this evening are my own. SEC Charges Phoenix-Area Real Estate Fund Adviser Jonathan Larmore With $35 Million Fraud - Larmore Also Charged With Stock Manipulation For False Wework Tender Offer

The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced fraud charges against Phoenix-based real estate investment company ArciTerra Companies LLC and its CEO, Jonathan M. Larmore, for engaging in a multi-year scheme to misappropriate millions of dollars of investor funds from investment vehicles that ArciTerra managed. The SEC also charged several entities controlled by Larmore for their roles in the scheme.

SEC Names Kate E. Zoladz As Regional Director Of Los Angeles Office

The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced that Kate E. Zoladz has been named Regional Director of the Los Angeles Office, effective Dec. 3, 2023. Ms. Zoladz has served as Acting Co-Director since June 2023 and as the Associate Regional Director for Enforcement since October 2019. She joined the agency in 2010.

EBA Consults On Standards For Assessing The Materiality Of Extensions And Changes To The New Market Risk Internal Models Under The Fundamental Review Of The Trading Book

The European Banking Authority (EBA) today launched a public consultation on its draft Regulatory Technical Standards (RTS) on the conditions for assessing the materiality of extensions and changes to the use of internal models as well as to the subset of the modellable risk factors applicable under the Fundamental Review of the Trading Book (FRTB) rules. These RTS are part of the Phase 4 deliverables of the EBA roadmap for the new market and counterparty credit risk approaches. The consultation runs until 29 February 2023.

Ontario Securities Commission Survey Follows Up On Canadians’ Crypto Asset Knowledge

The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) today released the results of a follow up survey that looked at investor knowledge and views on crypto assets. The 2023 survey found that Canadians’ crypto ownership has dropped 23% in the past year and interest in crypto is declining.
