Korea Exchange: Improvement Of Listing Criteria To Vitalize REITs Market

The Korea Exchange (KRX) revised the Listing Regulation of the KOSPI Market to relax listing and delisting criteria for real estate investment trusts (REITs) or real estate investment companies, which is effective on April 29, 2015. The revision also aims to expand the investment opportunity of real estate-related financial products for general investors.

Assets in ETFs/ETPs globally reached a new record 2.998 trillion US dollars but fell short of breaking through the 3 trillion milestone at the end of April according to ETFGI’s preliminary monthly ETF and ETP global insight report for April 2015. Our forecast was that assets will break through 3 trillion by the middle of 2015.

As the Financial Services Commission (FSC) approved the revised Business Regulations for the KOSPI, KOSDAQ and Derivates Markets of the Korea Exchange (KRX) on April 29, 2015, KRX plans to revise relevant enforcement rules to work out details and time for the implementation of the revised regulations.
