  • HKEx And LME - Update On Legal Proceedings: Class Action Lawsuits Filed In The United States - Metal Warehousing

    As disclosed in the announcements dated 4 and 7 August 2013 as well as 14 March, 13 May and 25 September 2014 (collectively, the “Announcements”), Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (“HKEx”), along with its subsidiaries, The London Metal Exchange (the “LME”) and LME Holdings Limited (“LMEH”), were named as co-defendants in class action lawsuits filed in the

    United States (“US”) alleging anti-competitive and monopolistic behaviour in metal warehousing in connection with aluminium prices. Of the 26 class actions filed, 24 were consolidated into 3 complaints (the “first level” purchasers of primary aluminium complaint, the consumer end users of aluminium complaint and the commercial end users of aluminium complaint).

    The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) acted yesterday to improve the cyber security of the bulk electric system by proposing revisions to critical infrastructure protection (CIP) Reliability Standards to address risks to communication networks and related bulk electric system assets and the development of standards for supply chain management security controls to protect the bulk electric system from security vulnerabilities and malware threats.
