Good morning ladies and gentlemen, it’s a great pleasure to join you in Hong Kong in such distinguished company and I’m grateful to FinanceAsia for asking me to speak.

I want to address my main remarks to the subject of innovation in financial services – a subject that financial regulators tend not to talk about that often − but before I do, I want to put my remarks in some context.

FSB Publishes Fourth Progress Report On Compensation Practices

The Financial Stability Board (FSB) today published the fourth annual progress report onImplementing the FSB Principles for Sound Compensation Practices and their Implementation Standards. The Principles and Standards, issued in 2009, aim to reduce incentives for excessive risk-taking that may arise from the structure of compensation schemes in significant financial institutions.

EBA: Consultation On ITS On The Procedures And Forms In Respect Of Acquisitions And Increases Of Qualifying Holdings

The European Banking Authority (EBA) launched today a public consultation on its draft Implementing Technical Standards (ITS) on the procedures, forms and templates that competent authorities in the EU should use when consulting each other on qualifying holdings. The objective of these ITS is to streamline information exchanges and ensure effective communications between concerned authorities, both on a cross-border basis and across sectors. This public consultation runs until 10 February 2016.

SEC - Market Structure Data: Q3 2015 Data Now Available

SEC Staff has issued the following updates:

• Updated Metrics. Data series containing daily cancel-to-trade ratios, trade-order volumes, hidden rates, and odd-lot rate metrics for Q3 2015 are now available. This data extends to 45 total months the data series you can view in the data visualization tool as well as download in CSV format. The visualization for quote-life data now defaults to Q3 2015.

UBS MTF Trading Notice Well-formed Market Checks

UBS MTF would like to provide further details on its upcoming implementation of well-formed market checks, announced previously in its notice N11 of 8 September 2015.  These will be effective from Tuesday 24 November 2015.

MGEX Sets Top 20 Electronic Daily Volume Record

MGEX, a Designated Contract Market (DCM) and Derivatives Clearing Organization (DCO), recorded an electronic volume of 15,835 from Monday, making it the 16th-best electronic volume day in the history of the Exchange.
