The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) has announced an extension to the deadline for issuing a Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) annual reports. Previously set at two months, the new timeline allows for four months after its financial year end.

I would like to thank the New York City Bar Association for the kind invitation to join you for today’s exciting program. Thank you to the organizers of the Emerging Technology Symposium and co-chairs Adele Hogan and Jerome Walker. I am also thankful to my staff Rebecca Lewis, Julia Welch, and Tamika Bent for their assistance preparing my draft remarks today. While my remarks are my own, I am hopeful that focusing on the implications of introducing Artificial Intelligence (AI) in financial markets will be of interest.

U.S. Department Of Justice: Oil And Gas Trader Convicted For Role In Foreign Bribery And Money Laundering Scheme

A federal jury in Brooklyn convicted an oil and gas trader today for his role in a scheme to bribe Ecuadorean and Mexican government officials and to launder money to secure contracts worth hundreds of millions of dollars for his then-employer, Vitol Inc. (Vitol), the U.S. affiliate of the largest independent energy trading firm in the world.

FATF Advances Work To Combat Money Laundering And Terrorist Financing

Today, the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), the global standard-setting body for anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT), concluded its fifth Plenary under the Singaporean presidency. The FATF made several key advances, including kicking off a public consultation on potential changes to the FATF Recommendation on wire transfer information and the adoption of new guidance on trusts. The FATF also noted its concern on Russian Federation’s growing financial connectivity with North Korea and Iran.

Ted Dowd Named Acting Senior Deputy Comptroller And Chief Counsel US Office Of The Comptroller Of The Currency

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) today announced that Ted Dowd will serve as Acting Senior Deputy Comptroller and Chief Counsel, effective April 8, 2024. Mr. Dowd will serve in this position while the agency initiates a search for a successor to Ben McDonough, who will be taking a position at another agency.
