TOCOM To Update Exchange Fees For Crude Oil Futures

The Tokyo Commodity Exchange, Inc. announced today that effective Monday, January 4, 2016, the exchange fee for Dubai Crude Oil futures will increase from 55 JPY to 70 JPY per contract (one-way).

Cerberus Acquires GBP 13 Billion Portfolio Of Assets From UK Asset Resolution Limited (UKAR) - Portfolio Consists Of Part Of The Legacy Book Of NRAM, The Former Northern Rock Mortgage Business - UKAR Engaged For Ongoing Asset Management Services

Cerberus Capital Management, L.P. ("Cerberus") today announced that affiliates of the firm have entered into a definitive agreement to acquire a portfolio of mortgage loans and other loan assets from UK Asset Resolution Limited (UKAR) and the entire issued share capital of NRAM plc. The £13 billion portfolio acquired by Cerberus includes approximately £12 billion of loans in the securitization vehicle known as Granite and other legacy mortgages of NRAM plc, the former Northern Rock mortgage business.

Good evening. My discussion tonight will focus on a key transmission channel in an open economy--the exchange rate.1 The exchange rate is a primary focus of central bankers in small open economies as well as a prime concern of the broader public in those economies--and, to a lesser extent, in even the largest of economies. When I was governor of the Bank of Israel prior to joining the Federal Reserve, my markets screen was continuously open at a chart of the exchange rate of the shekel against the dollar. For small open economies, the exchange rate may well matter as much for output and inflation as do interest rates.2

US Justice Department Announces Two Banks Reach Resolutions Under Swiss Bank Program

The Department of Justice announced today that Banque Internationale à Luxembourg (Suisse) SA (BIL Switzerland) and Zuger Kantonalbank (ZGKB) have reached resolutions under the department’s Swiss Bank Program. These banks will collectively pay penalties totaling more than $13 million and continue to cooperate with the department.

Major Banks Sign Relaunched ISDA Resolution Stay Protocol

The International Swaps and Derivatives Association, Inc. (ISDA) today announced the relaunch of the ISDA Resolution Stay Protocol to cover securities financing transactions (SFT). Twenty-one major global banks have signed the Protocol at launch.
