ASX Ltd Half-Year Results Media Release

Mr Elmer Funke Kupper, ASX Managing Director and CEO, said “ASX’s financial results for the first six monthsof FY16 were positive, with activity growth across all major areas. The result wassupported by a continuationof the higher activity levels we saw in the second half of the previous financial year. Revenues were up 7.9%to $376.2 million and profit after tax was up 7.3% to $213.1 million.

Office Of Financial Research Update - Financial Markets Monitor

The OFR released today its latest Financial Markets Monitor. The monitor says prices of equities and other risky assets have declined markedly in 2016 due to concerns about global growth and low oil prices. Developments in China fueled market concerns about the effectiveness of Chinese economic policies, while oil oversupply pushed prices to the lowest levels in more than 10 years.

“The agreement reached by the CFTC and the European Commissioner for Financial Stability is a major milestone in our efforts to reform and strengthen the global derivatives market following the financial crisis. Finding common ground with our European partners to establish a level playing field internationally will help support cross-border activity with the appropriate regulation and supervision. Chairman Massad, his team at the CFTC, and their counterparts at the European Commission, along with former CFTC Chairman Gensler, deserve great credit, for the hard work and cooperation they devoted to making this agreement possible and I encourage both entities to implement the agreement swiftly."

SEC Adopts Cross-Border Security-Based Swap Rules Regarding Activity In The U.S. - Rules Provide Increased Transparency And Enhanced Oversight - SEC Finalizes Rulemaking In Security-Based Swap Dealing Activity

The Securities and Exchange Commission today voted to adopt rules that require a non-U.S. company that uses personnel located in a U.S. branch or office to arrange, negotiate, or execute a security-based swap transaction in connection with its dealing activity to include that transaction in determining whether it is required to register as a security-based swap dealer. The rules, adopted under by the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, would help ensure that both U.S. and foreign dealers are subject to Title VII of the Act when they engage in security-based swap dealing activity in the United States.
