HKEX To Introduce Futures On 7 Stock Sectors

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) will introduce futures contracts on seven sectors of its stock market on Monday, 9 May 2016 to expand its well-established equity derivatives business and give investors more choices.

Last week, Shenzhen Component Index tumbled 5.8% to 9573.7 points. SME Index closed at 6304.2 points after losing 6.1%. ChiNext Index was down 8.9% to 2014.9 points. Total turnover for stocks and funds on SZSE was US$278.9 billion, or a 17.4% increase from the week before.

Securities Commission Malaysia: Low Thiam Hock Jailed Five Years, Fined RM5 Million Over Repco Share Manipulation

The Sessions Court today sentenced Low Thiam Hock aged 53, to five years imprisonment and a fine of RM5 million for the manipulation of Repco Holdings Berhad shares in 1997. Low was convicted for an offence under section 84(1) of the Securities Industry Act 1983 (SIA) for acts calculated to create a misleading appearance with respect to the price of Repco shares on 3 December 1997, on the then Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange.

Europe Leads Global Net Sales For Long-Term Funds In 2015, According To Broadridge Financial Solutions - Cross Border Fund Sales Drives Growth In Europe

Global fund net sales growth in 2015 was driven by European markets, according to data released today by Broadridge Financial Solutions, Inc. (NYSE:BR) via its Global Fund Intelligence. Long-term fund net sales in Europe lead all regions around the globe with fund net sales (excluding money funds) of €285bn in 2015, followed by Asia with net sales of €215bn. Net sales in North America trailed with net new sales of slightly more than €70bn.

Elevated Dividend Yield of Japanese Equities
In February, the drop in Japanese stock prices resulted in a spike in the dividend yields of the underlying stocks of the Nikkei 225 Index, rising as high as 2.16% based on estimates for the fiscal year ending March 2016 -- a level not seen in more than three years since December 2012. Given that the yield reflects dividend payments relative to price per share, dividend yield increases as stock prices fall.
