Summary:
- Nifty 50 closed at 8287.75 as on June 30, 2016, an increase of 127.65 points (1.56%) as against 8160.10 as on May 31, 2016.
- The free float market capitalization of Nifty 50 index was USD 448.49 Bn. as on June 30, 2016 as against USD 444.30 Bn. as on May 31, 2016. The free float market capitalization of Nifty Next 50 index was USD 81.78 Bn. as on June 30, 2016 as against USD79.00 Bn. as on May 31, 2016.
- Most indices across all categories gained during the one month period ending June 30, 2016. Nifty Free Float Smallcap 100 index gained the most (11.43%) amongst all the indices during the month whereas the Nifty IT index (-2.42%) was the biggest loser during the month.
- During the 3 month period ending June 30, 2016, the biggest gainers in their respective index categories are Nifty Free Float Smallcap 100 (19.01%) in broad market index category, Nifty Mahindra Group (14.88%) in thematic index category, Nifty High Beta 50 (10.98%) in strategy index category and Nifty Realty (27.91%) in sectoral index category.
- The biggest gainers during the 1 year period ending June 30, 2016 in their respective index categories are Nifty Free Float Smallcap 100 (9.20%) in broad market index category, Nifty Mahindra Group (9.89%) in thematic index category, Nifty Low Volatility 50 (8.03%) in strategy index category and Nifty Media (17.70%) in sectoral index category.
- During the month, IISL launched two new indices viz. Nifty 50 Futures index and Nifty 1D Rate Index. SBI MF and ICICI Prudential AMC launched two new ETFs linked to Nifty 10 yr Benchmark G-Sec and Nifty50 Value 20 index respectively during the month and they are listed at NSE.
