Financial Stability Oversight Council Releases Statement On Review Of Asset Management Products And Activities

The Financial Stability Oversight Council (Council) today voted unanimously to release astatement providing a public update on its review of potential risks to U.S. financial stability that may arise from asset management products and activities. The statement details the Council’s views regarding potential financial stability risks and next steps to respond to these potential risks. The Council’s evaluation of risks focused on the following areas: (1) liquidity and redemption; (2) leverage; (3) operational functions; (4) securities lending; and (5) resolvability and transition planning.

CalPERS Sets Path To Review Divestment - Policy Would Set Standards For Review, Tobacco To Be Evaluated Separately

The California Public Employees’ Retirement System’s (CalPERS) Board of Administration (Board) today laid out a path to review all of the System’s existing divestment initiatives, including tobacco. Based on directions given to CalPERS staff, the Board will consider reinvestment in tobacco after thorough review, study, and stakeholder input. The process is expected to take between 12 and 24 months and will culminate with a decision in early 2018. All non-tobacco divestments will be reviewed according to a new loss threshold policy, to be developed during the same time period.

SEC: Statement On Financial Stability Oversight Council’s Review Of Asset Management Products And Activities

I support the publication of the Council’s Update Statement on its review of asset management products and activities for potential financial stability risks. The summary of analysis set forth in the update gives a current snapshot of FSOC’s work in this area, which the Council is making public today. I commend that transparency and the tireless work of the staff that has led to today’s update.

SIFMA president and CEO Kenneth E. Bentsen, Jr., delivered opening remarks today at a symposium entitled “Green Finance: A Growing Imperative.” The event was co-hosted by the Paulson Institute, the Green Finance Committee (GFC), China Society for Finance and Banking under The People’s Bank of China’s (PBOC), the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA), UNEP and Bloomberg Philanthropies. Remarks By US Treasury Secretary Jacob J. Lew At A Meeting Of The Financial Stability And Oversight Council

At today’s meeting, the Council will provide an update on our review of potential risks from asset management products and activities. Patrick Pinschmidt, the Executive Director of the Council, will discuss the Council’s review and describe the public statement the Council will consider for release.

Deutsche Börse: Unscheduled Adjustments In MDAX - Adjustments To The Free Float And Replacement Of Wincor Nixdorf AG Share Class - Changes To Be Effective As Of 21 April

On Monday, Deutsche Börse announced unscheduled changes to MDAX. As a result of the expected acquisition of Wincor Nixdorf AG by the acquirer Diebold, Incorporated, the tendered share line of Wincor Nixdorf AG (ISIN DE000A169QN2) will be deleted and replaced with the prior Wincor Nixdorf AG share line (ISIN DE000A0CAYB2). This change is due to the end of the final tender period of the acquisition from 15 April 2016. This process ensures that the relevant criteria of index continuity and tradability are upheld.

CalPERS Approves New Real Assets Strategic Plan - Plan Aligns Real Estate, Infrastructure, And Forestland Programs, Maintains Existing Focus And Direction

The California Public Employees' Retirement System's (CalPERS) today approved a new five-year strategic plan for its Real Assets asset class. The new plan for the asset class, which includes the Real Estate, Infrastructure, and Forestland programs, largely continues the investment goals and parameters of the programs' previous strategic plans, but better harmonizes nomenclature and aims to further reduce risks, costs, and complexity.

CFTC Announces Additional Names To Its List Of Foreign Entities That Illegally Solicit U.S. Residents In Forex And Binary Options - Registration Deficient (RED) List On CFTC Website Identifies Companies Operating Illegally Without Being Registered

As part of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s (CFTC) ongoing efforts to help protect Americans from fraud, today the agency announced the addition of 23 new names to the RED List. Started in September 2015, the RED List — standing for “Registration Deficient” — contains the names of unregistered foreign entities that the CFTC has reason to believe are soliciting and accepting funds from U.S. residents at a retail level for, among other things, trading in foreign currency (forex) or binary options, and who are required to register with the CFTC but, in fact, are not registered (see CFTC Press Release 7224-15, September 9, 2015).

Nigerian Stock Exchange Extends Trading Hours

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) today reported it experienced a disruption to its trading services. The Exchange noted that throughout the incident it maintained open communication with trading community. However, trading recommenced at 2.15p.m and was extended to 4.00p.m. (from the usual time of 2:30 pm) in order to give investors the opportunity to complete their desired transactions for the day.
