ASEAN Capital Market Regulators Intensify Efforts To Promote ASEAN Asset Classes

The ASEAN Capital Markets Forum (ACMF) held its 25th meeting in Jakarta, hosted by the Indonesia Financial Services Authority (Otoritas Jasa Keuangan). At that meeting, members of the ACMF agreed to intensify efforts to promote ASEAN asset classes. The ACMF therefore views the MSCI’s initiative to develop dedicated ASEAN indexes to generate greater visibility for ASEAN asset classes as timely in supporting the ACMF’s agenda.

Tokyo Commodity Exchange: Taiwanese Regulator Recognizes Gold Rolling Spot As “Eligible Foreign Futures”

The Tokyo Commodity Exchange (TOCOM) announced yesterday that the Gold Rolling Spot Futures contract has been recognized by the Financial Supervisory Commission of Taiwan (FSC) as “eligible foreign futures” for Taiwanese traders.

Federal Reserve Board Approves Final Policy Statement Detailing Framework For Setting Countercyclical Capital Buffer

The Federal Reserve Board on Thursday released a policy statement detailing the framework the Board will follow in setting the Countercyclical Capital Buffer (CCyB) for private-sector credit exposures located in the United States. The CCyB is a macroprudential tool that can be used to increase the resilience of the financial system by raising capital requirements on internationally active banking organizations when the risk of above-normal losses is elevated. The CCyB would then be available to help banking organizations absorb shocks associated with declining credit conditions. Implementation of the buffer could also help moderate fluctuations in the supply of credit.
