Following the signing of the United States Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (the Act), significant changes in US tax laws took effect on 1 January 2018. The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has become aware of concerns expressed by EU issuers with respect to the accounting for the effects of the Act in their IFRS financial statements.

Fair Trading In Wholesale Energy Markets: In 2017 ACER Processed More Than 90 Million Transactions

ACER stepped up its monitoring activities in 2017 by implementing an automatic screening process for transactions of energy products traded on European wholesale markets. For this purpose, the Agency developed and calibrated specific alerts to detect instances of unusual trading behaviour in electricity and gas. Last year, more than 90 million transactions for a variety of spot and derivative products were reported to the Agency.
