OCC Appoints Three New Members To Board Of Directors

Borsa İstanbul Hosts Prof. İlber Ortaylı

Borsa İstanbul hosted historian-author Prof. İlber Ortaylı on Friday, September 29, 2017. Prof. Ortaylı delivered a presentation entitled “Turkey’s Economic History” to an audience of approximately 450 persons including the Vice Governor of Sarıyer, executives of brokerage houses and BİST 100 companies and Borsa İstanbul Group staff. In his presentation, Prof. Ortaylı provided striking information about the economic history of Turkey.

US Treasury Details Efforts To Reduce Burden Of Tax Regulations

The Treasury Department, under the leadership of Secretary Steven T. Mnuchin, today released a report on planned upcoming actions that it believes would reduce the burden of eight tax regulations identified earlier this year. Treasury also announced today that it continues to work to identify additional regulations for modification or repeal by evaluating significant regulations issued recently and initiating a comprehensive review of all regulations, regardless of when they were issued. The comprehensive review has already identified over 200 regulations that Treasury believes should be repealed, which will begin in the fourth quarter of 2017.

Brown Rudnick Secures Major Victory For Fairfield Sentry And Kenneth Krys Stemming From Madoff Fraud

The United States Supreme Court denied a petition for certiorari filed by Farnum Place, LLC (“Farnum”), on October 3, handing Brown Rudnick client Kenneth Krys, as liquidator and foreign representative of Fairfield Sentry Limited (in liquidation) (“Sentry”), a definitive final victory after five-plus years of litigation in courts in the British Virgin Islands (“BVI”) and United States concerning Farnum’s attempt to force consummation of a proposed asset sale that was not in the interest of Sentry’s stakeholders and had not been approved under Section 363 of the Bankruptcy Code.
