  • ADX Participates In Arab Federation Of Exchanges Meetings

    H.E. Khalifa Salem Al Mansouri, Acting Chief Executive of the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange, the leading financial market in the region, led a delegation to the Arab Federation of Exchanges (AFE) meetings, which took place in Cairo, Egypt, on 23-24 April. Heads and representatives of stock exchanges, Arab depository and clearing companies, as well as representatives of a group of brokerage firms and financial experts attended the meetings.

    Nasdaq Dubai welcomed the listing today of a 1.5 billion US dollar Sukuk by Islamic Development Bank (IDB). The listing underlines Dubai’s role as the largest centre globally for Sukuk listings by nominal value currently totaling 60.89 billion US dollars.

  • Nadex Self-Certification To Amend Expiration Value Calculation Process For Crude Oil And Natural Gas Contracts

    On April 26, 2019, North American Derivatives Exchange, Inc. (“Nadex”, the “Exchange”) submitted to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (the “Commission”), pursuant to Section 5c(c)(1) of the Commodity Exchange Act, as amended (“Act”), and section §40.6(a) of the regulations promulgated by the Commission under the Act (the “Regulations”), its intent to amend its expiration value calculation procedure for its Crude Oil and Natural Gas Variable Payout and Binary contracts to include both ‘normal’ and ‘highly active’ market conditions methods.  In accordance with the 10-day review period set forth in Commission Regulation 40.6(b), Nadex plans to implement these Exchange Rule changes for the start of business on trade date May 6, 2019.

    The Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s (CFTC) Office of External Affairs (OEA) and the Security and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) Office of Investor Education and Advocacy (OIEA) released, Watch Out for Fraudulent Digital Asset and “Crypto” Trading Websites, an Investor Alert this week to warn investors to scrutinize investment opportunities through websites purporting to operate advisory and trading businesses related to digital assets. These websites often contain “red flags” of fraud including claims of high guaranteed returns and promises that the investments carry little or even no risk.

  • EBA Publishes Clarifications To A Third Set Of Issues Raised By Its Working Group On APIs Under PSD2

    The European Banking Authority (EBA) published today clarifications to a third set of issues that had been raised and discussed by participants of its Working Group (WG) on APIs under PSD2. The clarifications respond to issues raised on the portability of ‘wide usage' data between EU Member States and on eIDAS certificates, in particular with regards to passporting, their use during the ‘wide usage' period, and the reliance on the certificates by account servicing payment service providers (ASPSPs). The clarifications also respond to questions on the use by Third Party Providers (TPPs) of agents and outsourcees for accessing payment accounts data and on the interpretation of the conditions of "widely used" and "design to the satisfaction of the TPPs".

    The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) considers, that following the extension of Article 50(3) in relation to the United Kingdom’s withdrawal from the European Union, it is necessary to provide clarity to stakeholders that transparency calculations due in May and June as well as in the following months will now be published.
