Japan Exchange Group: Trading To Continue After Declaration Of A State Of Emergency

The government of Japan announced yesterday that it will declare a state of emergency for Tokyo effective from July 12 over the spread of Covid-19. However, trading for all of the markets on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, Osaka Exchange and Tokyo Commodity Exchange will continue as usual.

Hedge fund performance advanced in June, extending the streak of consecutive monthly gains to nine and completing the best first half of a calendar year since 1999, driven by optimism regarding the US economic reopening and despite increasing signs of building inflationary pressures in the US and Europe. The HFRI Fund Weighted Composite Index® (FWC) gained +0.4 percent in June, while the investable HFRI 500 Fund Weighted Composite Index advanced +0.2 percent, according to data released today by HFR®, the established global leader in the indexation, analysis and research of the global hedge fund 9ndustry.

IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva Welcomes The Executive Board’s Backing Of For A New US$650 Billion SDR Allocation

Ms. Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), made the following statement today regarding the Executive Board’s decision supporting the general allocation of Special Drawing Rights (SDRs):
“The IMF Executive Board yesterday concurred in my proposal for a new general SDR allocation equivalent to US$650 billion – the largest allocation in the IMF’s history – to address the long-term global needs for reserves during the worst crisis since the Great Depression.

TAIFEX posted a record-breaking half-year trading volume of 207,782,823 contracts in H1 2021, an increase of 19.6% from the previous high in H1 2020. The average daily volume (ADV) also set a record, peaked at 1,793,185 contracts, up 28.6% compared to 2020.

The Financial Markets Authority (FMA) - Te Mana Tātai Hokohoko - has closed its inquiries that followed Fonterra’s 2019 financial statements market announcement. The FMA did not find evidence to support regulatory action, including litigation, under the Financial Markets Conduct Act.

A Swedish man was sentenced today to 15 years in prison for securities fraud, wire fraud and money laundering charges that defrauded thousands of victims of more than $16 million.

When we compare the current Consolidated Audit Trail (CAT) design with our “A-Z” requirements listed below, we see significant deficiencies and ineffective controls in CAT that require immediate attention. Is that the reason why the CAT operating committee seems to hesitate to respond to each of our 26 suggestions? These principle based requirements are better than the Enhanced Data Security proposal which only ask FINRA CAT LLC to comply with outdated security guidance – the revision 4 of SP800-53 by the NIST [see prior article’s endnote for a elaborated discussion]. To address the flaws in CAT’s outdated design and to resolve CAT’s challenges, it will take not just cooperation and collaboration, but development and deployment efforts.

Members of the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) have signed an innovative functions co-operation agreement with the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong (SFC). The members are the securities regulatory authorities in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Québec and Saskatchewan.

CFTC: Georgia Man Sanctioned For Fraudulent Scheme Attempting To Profit From COVID-19

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission announced today that the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas entered a default judgment against Kenzley Ramos, a Georgia resident, for engaging in fraudulent solicitation, misappropriation, operation of an unlawful commodity pool, and failure to register with the CFTC.
