Singapore To Join International Efforts To Support IMF’s Initiatives For Vulnerable Low-Income Countries Impacted By COVID-19

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) announced today that Singapore intends to join international efforts to enhance the capacity of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to assist vulnerable low-income countries in dealing with the economic fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic. This will enable the IMF to support the surge in requests for financial assistance, from these countries.

1. The 7th Joint Meeting of the ASEAN Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (AFMGM) was convened under the co-chairmanship of Hon. Dato Dr. Mohd Amin Liew Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II of Brunei Darussalam, and Hajah Rokiah Haji Badar, Managing Director of the Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam. The Meeting was held via video conference due to the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

BIS: A Global Database On Central Banks' Monetary Responses To Covid-19

The Covid-19 pandemic has been an unprecedented health shock that has simultaneously affected demand, supply and financial conditions around the globe. Central banks have reacted strongly, using a range of different measures to shore up financial markets and mitigate the adverse economic impact of the pandemic. A key policy question going forward will be how promptly, strongly and effectively different central banks responded to the crisis.

ESMA Publishes Response To IASB Request For Information On The Post Implementation Review Of IFRS 10, 11 AND 12

The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), the EU’s securities markets regulator, has today published its response to the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) Request for Information on the Post Implementation Review of IFRS 10, 11 and 12, including a report providing an overview of the implementation of the three standards by European issuers. The report draws on the experience of European enforcers since 2014 and is based on a review of a sample of 65 issuers relating to the financial years 2017, 2018 and 2019.
