ASIC Extends Transitional Relief For Foreign Financial Services Providers Following Federal Budget

ASIC is extending for 12 months – to 31 March 2023 – our transitional relief for foreign financial services providers (FFSPs) from the requirement to hold an Australian financial services (AFS) licence, pending the outcome of the Australian Government’s consultation about the regulation of FFSPs.

Shanghai Stock Exchange Issues Guidelines For Continuous Disclosure On Technology And Innovation Attributes For Listed Companies On STAR Market

Under the guidance of the relevant departments of the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC), the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) formulates and issues today the Guidance No. 3 on Application of Self-regulatory Rules for Listed Companies on STAR Market - Continuous Disclosure of Technology and Innovation Attributes and Related Issues (hereinafter referred to as the Guidance No. 3). The Guidance No. 3 aims to clarify the matters and requirements for information disclosure of technology and innovation attributes after the listing of companies on the STAR Market, urge the companies to adhere to the position of technology and innovation and promote the companies' high-quality development.

CFFEX: Notice On Issues Related To The Delivery Of Equity Index Futures And Options Contracts

Pursuant to the Trading Rules of China Financial Futures Exchange and relevant detailed implementation rules, the last trading day of a CSI 300 Index futures, SSE 50 Index futures, CSI 500 Index futures, and CSI 300 Index options contract is the third Friday of the expiry month. Where the last trading day is a public holiday or trading of that contract is suspended on that day for extraordinary situations or other reasons, the last trading day shall be postponed to the following trading day. Accordingly, the last trading day of IF2106, IH2106, IC2106, and IO2106(CSI 300 Index options contracts expiring in June 2021) is June 18, 2021.

Earlier today, Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo spoke with Indonesian Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati. Deputy Secretary Adeyemo expressed his support for strong U.S.-Indonesia relations and close cooperation with Indonesia on key global challenges. He welcomed the shared goals between the United States and Indonesia to work together towards reaching a historic multilateral agreement to make the international tax system more fair and end the race-to-the-bottom in corporate taxation. He also discussed shared efforts to promote a strong, sustainable, and inclusive economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, and global efforts to respond to climate change. Deputy Secretary Adeyemo welcomed the opportunity to work with Indonesia during its upcoming G20 presidency in 2022.

Superintendent of Financial Services Linda A. Lacewell today announced that the New York Department of Financial Services (DFS) has issued a new report analyzing New York domestic insurers’ exposure to the financial risks arising from society’s transition towards a low-carbon economy. The report is the result of a collaboration between DFS and the 2° Investing Initiative (2DII), an independent, non-profit think tank working to align the financial sector with international climate goals, and furthers DFS’s efforts to support New York insurers in managing the financial risks from climate change.

ISDA Submits Letter To FASB On Scope Of Fair Value Option

On June 8, ISDA submitted a letter requesting that the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) expands the scope of the fair value option that is provided under Topic 825, Financial Instruments to include physical commodity inventories as well as executory contracts related to physical commodities (eg, storage, transportation, non-derivatives purchase or sale contracts) that are managed on a fair value basis. Given the challenges and significant operational cost that exist with applying fair value hedge accounting to the substantial majority of these positions, having an option to measure certain physical commodity inventories and related executory contracts at fair value would provide a practical and simplified solution.
