EBA Publishes Guidelines On Role And Responsibilities Of The AML/CFT Compliance Officer

The European Banking Authority (EBA) today published its Guidelines specifying the role and responsibilities of the anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) compliance officer and of the management body of credit or financial institutions. These Guidelines aim to ensure a common interpretation and adequate implementation of AML/CFT internal governance arrangements across the EU in line with the requirements of the EU Directive on the prevention of the use of the financial system for the purposes of money laundering or terrorist financing (ML/FT). 

SEC Charges Weiss Asset Management With Short Selling Violations

The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced that investment advisory firm Weiss Asset Management LP has agreed to pay approximately $6.9 million to settle charges that it violated the federal securities laws when it unlawfully purchased stock in seven public offerings after selling short those same stocks.

CUSIP Global Services (CGS) today announced the release of its CUSIP Issuance Trends Report for May 2022. The report, which tracks the issuance of new security identifiers as an early indicator of debt and capital markets activity over the next quarter, found a monthly increase in request volume for new municipal identifiers, while requests for new corporate identifiers were largely flat on a monthly basis.
