US Department Of Justice: Three Portfolio Managers And Allianz Global Investors U.S. Charged In Connection With Multibillion-Dollar Fraud Scheme - Gregoire Tournant, Chief Investment Officer Of Allianz Global Investors U.S.’S Structured Products Group, And Two Others Charged With Fraud Offenses - Allianz Global Investors U.S. LLC Also Charged With Securities Fraud, Agrees To Plead Guilty

An indictment was unsealed today in the Southern District of New York charging Gregoire Tournant, the Chief Investment Officer and co-lead Portfolio Manager for a series of private investment funds managed by Allianz Global Investors U.S. LLC (AGI), with securities fraud, investment adviser fraud and obstruction of justice offenses in connection with a scheme to defraud investors. Those funds ultimately collapsed, leading to billions of dollars of investor losses. Tournant surrendered to Postal Inspectors in Denver, Colorado, this morning and is expected to be presented later today. The case has been assigned to U.S District Court Judge Laura Taylor Swain.

• The EBA Guidelines on the management of non-performing and forborne exposures are being applied effectively by both prudential and consumer protection authorities across the EU.
• The EBA observes a risk-based approach to the supervision of NPE management, and a number of good practices to be followed up by all competent authorities and reflected in future updates of the EBA Guidelines.

Today, U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen met with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, as well as European Commission Executive Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis and European Commissioner for the Economy Paolo Gentiloni.  Secretary Yellen emphasized that the United States stands with Ukraine and welcomed Europe’s close cooperation in holding Russia accountable for its illegal and unprovoked war.  The Secretary discussed the need for the international community to provide economic assistance to Ukraine.  The Secretary also discussed Europe’s efforts to reduce its reliance on Russian energy.

Vienna Stock Exchange: Discontinuation Of Russian depositary Indices

The CEE & CIS Emergency Committee of Wiener Börse AG has decided to discontinue the calculation of the Russian Depositary Index (RDX) and 14 other indices with Russian Depositary underlyings. The 15 indices suspended since the beginning of March were based on prices determined on the London Stock Exchange (IOB). The decision is effective as of today, 17 May 2022. Outstanding structured products can be switched to Russian indices with a local price source (Moscow Stock Exchange). The calculation of all Russian indices with the price source Moscow is paused until further notice. In addition, the composition of the local Russian indices changes due to the exclusion of Russian companies that are targets of sanctions imposed by the European Union.
